5 Outdoor Lighting Ideas for Your Home

Is your backyard dull and dark? Want to impress your neighbors? One of the easiest ways to do this is to add some lighting to your yard. Our crew here at Handyman Connection of McKinney has some ideas to make your backyard unique and trendy. Check out some creative ways to lighten up your outdoor area.

Mason Jars

Lighted mason jars are always a classic and popular way to add some lighting to any area. Your backyard is no exception. Simply take some battery-operated candle, turn them on, and place each of them in a mason jar. Place the jars wherever you like. You can place them on the ground or your deck. You can even take some copper wire and hang them from the deck or trees around your backyard. Some people also like to tint their mason jars to add a little color to their yard.

Glow In The Dark Planters

A fun, creative way to brighten up your backyard is with some glow in the dark paint. You can paint your planters entirely, or you can paint some unique designs. This is also a perfect way to get your kids involved while lighting up your backyard.

DIY Chandelier

Create your own outdoor chandelier with some items you can probably find laying around your home. If not, you can definitely find them at your local dollar store. All you need is a hula hoop, some holiday lights, and some string or wire. Simply wrap the holiday lights around the hula hoops and hang the newly made chandelier with the string or wire.

Tiki Torches

Tiki torches have always been a common way to light up a backyard, but you can make your torches unique by repainting them or by wrapping some stringed lights around them. To give them a complete look, you can add some greenery to the bottom of them.

Recycled Glass Bottles

Does your household recycle? If so, you can use your recycled glass bottles for outdoor light fixtures. Simply rinse the bottles and run stringed lights through each one. You can place them along the ground or take some wire and hang them. This is a great way to recycle and brighten up your backyard at the same time.

If you’re looking for other ideas to get creative with the lights in your backyard, or if you’d like to totally revamp your backyard, give our crew at Handyman Connection of McKinney a call. Our expert craftsmen are here to help!
