As we enter the colder months of the year, make sure your home is ready for winter weather and lower temperatures! As you get your home winter-ready, remember to check these three tasks off your to-do list to ensure you (and your home) have a hassle-free and warm season.
- Seal your doors and windows. Brace yourself for those winter winds! Even the smallest of cracks can let that cold, brisk air into your home to lower your house’s overall temperature, which can really make a difference in the winter. Stay as warm as you possibly can by double checking your door and window seals!
- Insulation is everything. Whether your home is old or new, checking to make sure your home is properly insulated and prepared for the harsh winter temperatures is extremely important. Some places to make sure you have proper insulation include: in your attic, around your plumbing, and of course in your basement. Insulation helps keep the warm air IN your home as well as keep those heating costs low!
- Clean your gutters and roof. Cleaning the gutters and roof completely to remove the fall season’s accumulation of dirt, debris, and leaves is important– especially in cities with high snow accumulations. The weight from accumulating snow can add stress to the roof and lead to potential costly damage!
These three key items are just a few things to remember to complete before it gets even colder. Be proactive with your home and stay warm this season!
