Summertime conjures up images of starry nights, campfires, and family gatherings. If you don’t already have a fire pit in your backyard, here are some pointers on how to build a fire pit for you and your family or friends to enjoy. Follow our tutorial to create the ideal fire pit for your backyard, whether you don’t know where to start or need some advice.
Before you begin building or buying supplies, ask yourself these questions:
Where would you like to build a fire pit? It may seem good on your patio near your house, but have you considered the smoke that will enter through your windows? You’ll want to make sure it’s far enough away from any plants, shrubs, or sheds. If your property has a lot of trees, make sure the area above the fire pit is clear.
Spray paint the position of the fire pit and dig it out a few inches. Tamp down, fill with gravel, wet the gravel with the garden hose, then tamp down again until only a few inches beneath the surface is level.
To make sure everything fits, layout your bricks without applying adhesive first. Raise any bricks with sand and tamp them down with a rubber mallet. Use glue to secure all bricks after the fire ring is in place.
That is how a fire pit is constructed. Before utilizing the fire pit, allow the adhesive to set. Bring fresh life to your lawn with this new installation.
