Dear Valued Customer,
Handyman Connection of Mountain View is committed to providing the highest quality services to our customers. We know that our customers have a choice, and we are grateful for your continued partnership.
For the past several years, Handyman Connection of Mountain View has been absorbing processing and transaction fees related to payments made by credit card. Unfortunately, our costs for credit card acceptance have continued to rise. Credit card rates have continued to skyrocket over the last few years, and more and more credit cards are run with the card not present (phone transactions, etc.). “Card not present” transactions also increase the rate we are charged. The use of credit cards to pay bills has also increased significantly.
Effective April 1, 2023, we will begin adding a 3% convenience fee for all credit card payments. The fee with be added to payments made with Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover to offset the fees charged by the card companies. In accordance with credit card network rules, Handyman Connection of Mountain View cannot profit from this fee, and it does not exceed our expenses associated with accepting credit card payments.
Payments made by check, electronic payment (ACH/EFT), wire, or debit card will not be charged the convenience fee.
We thank you for your understanding as we implement this fee and offset some of the increased inflationary costs we are all incurring. We are happy to work with you on alternate payment options.
Sincerely,
George Brisker

Home Improvement / January 25, 2018
A finished basement isn’t just pretty to look at; it also boosts your home’s value and adds an extra functional space in your home. While remodeling a basement is technically no different from any other room remodel, you need to be aware of several things before you begin.
In this post, Handyman Connection of Mountain View lists four things to consider before you start your basement remodel.
1.Check for Water Issues
Before you start your remodeling project, check the basement for signs of water damage or moisture issues. Pools of water, dripping, degraded foundations and faded walls are obvious warning signs. If you notice any cracks in the foundation itself, repair them first.
2.Consider Fasteners
The walls and floors of your basement are usually made up of masonry, cement or brick. As such, it’s near impossible to drive a nail or screw into it if you’re planning to attach framing. We recommend investing in a sturdy fastener designed to anchor framing in extra-hard materials.
3.Consider a Vapor Barrier
Even after you take care of existing moisture issues, your basement will get damp. To stem future problems, install a vapor barrier on the walls and flooring of the basement before attaching the framing. Do this and you’ll greatly reduce the moisture problems you’ll encounter in the future.
4.Recessed Lighting Is Better
Finally, for your lighting, we recommend purchasing recessed lighting. As its name suggests, these lights are recessed into the ceiling. As such, they won’t take up valuable space, unlike a light fixture. They’re also easy to install, especially if your basement has a drop ceiling.
