Organizing a cluttered home doesn’t have to be a daunting task. All you need to do is prepare and work with the right attitude. You need to break down a big project like this into smaller tasks and you need to follow the right advice. Handyman Connection of Butler Warren, the storage and shelving expert, explains how to organize the various areas of your home:
Entryway
A well-organized entryway will make moving around your home much easier. Save space in your coat closet by donating outerwear that you don’t use. Place fabric bins on the top shelf to save even more space. Add a cubby near the entrance so people’s shoes don’t get in the way. You can also place boxes for your outgoing and incoming mail near the door. Finally, create a special perch for your keys so you always know where they are.
Kitchen
Organizing your kitchen will make it quicker and more convenient to cook. Purge your pantry by throwing away anything that has expired. Prevent clutter by dividing your stored food into zones and by grouping similar objects together. For instance, pasta supplies should be in a separate section from baking supplies. Avoid confusion by making sure that all containers have labels. You can also organize your drawers along the same lines. Use drawer separators and group like objects together.
Bedroom
To reduce clutter in your bedroom, you need to remove unnecessary things while placing what remains in their proper place. Purge your closet by taking out clothing that you haven’t worn for more than a year. Many people can benefit if you donate your unused clothes to charity. Then, you need to organize the remaining items of clothing according to the season. Lastly, put your frequently used footwear in hanging storage at the back of your closet door for easy access. Then store the rest in plastic boxes underneath the bed.
