Kitchen and bathroom grout are arguably the most difficult types of grout to clean. They’re naturally porous, and they’re made in such a way that debris can easily “fall” into the grout itself and get trapped. A quick wipe on the surface of the tile is ineffective at best, as the grout lines are embedded deep into the surface. To lend you a hand, Handyman Connection of Novi discusses how to properly clean grout the right way.

To ensure that your grout removal project is a success, you need to prepare the area. Start by wiping the tiles down with a wet cloth, and make sure you remove the dust and dirt on the surface. Make sure you wipe away any stains as well; it’s one less problem you’ll have to worry about later.
Create a Cleaning Solution
Next, you’ll want to create a solution to clean the tile grout. We recommend you mix two parts baking soda with one part water for grouts that have low to mild dirt. For grout lines with deep stains, mix two parts baking soda with one part vinegar. This solution is an alternative to the grout cleaner you’ll find at the store, and it’s just as effective.
Apply and Clean
Using an old toothbrush or grout brush, apply the paste mixture on the grout lines. If you’re using the vinegar solution, make sure you only place it within the grout lines since the vinegar can and will stain the rest of the tile. Let the paste solution sit for a five minutes, and then scrub the grout lines thoroughly.
Finally, rinse the grout thoroughly with warm water. One scrub session is usually enough, but for deeper stained grout lines, you might have to do a second or third one. Once you’re done cleaning, let the grout dry for 24 hours, then apply a grout sealer to preserve the cleanliness of the grout.
