The fall season is ideal for inspecting and maintaining your gutters. As the weather cools, leaves fall from the trees and accumulate in your gutter. This just leads to congestion, which is not only inconvenient but also dangerous during severe rainstorms.
There are numerous things you can do to keep your gutters running smoothly all year, including keeping them clean and pruning back overgrown trees that could cause difficulties. We’ll go through each of these gutter repair procedures in more detail below.
The first thing you should keep in mind before working on your gutter is that if it becomes clogged or unclean enough, water will begin to pool on the ground around your foundation instead of draining away properly. This is more of a problem in the winter when there are no leaves falling and the gutters aren’t utilized as frequently, but it can happen at any time, especially if your gutter is clogged with pine straw or other material that isn’t generally there.
The easiest way to avoid this is to get your gutters cleaned on a regular basis. The simplest method to do this is to clean them out using a leaf blower or vacuum. If you don’t have one of them, a rake will suffice. Just be careful not to get leaves caught in your gutter’s bends, where they can’t be easily removed.
