3 Steps to Properly Repaint Your Bedrooms When Painting a Home

There comes a time when you’ve got to repaint your bedroom walls. It might be a bit of an inconvenience, but if it’s been a few years, you’re probably pretty sick of those walls and could use a change. Of course, when painting a home — no matter which room it is — you’ll need to make sure you do it right, or it’ll just be a huge waste of time and energy. Here are a few things to think about before painting your bedroom walls.

1. Painting a Home Requires the Right Tools

It’s a question as old as time: should I use a roller or a paint brush? Predictably, the answer is “both”. You can’t give your bedroom the paint job it deserves without the best tools for the job, and that means both rollers and brushes. Rollers are perfect for a smooth, seamless paint job over the middle of your walls, while the brushes are needed for the corners and along the trim.

2. Wait for Dry Weather

It sounds like a small thing, but the weather can play a big role in the quality of your upcoming paint job. Ideally, you want the paint you apply to dry as quickly as possible. That means checking the weather report to see if everything going to be sufficiently dry. If it’s overly humid or raining while you’re painting a home, the paint could drip, and the paint job will appear uneven. You’ll be better off waiting for the wet weather to pass before painting your bedroom walls.

3. Pick the Right Color

There’s no point in painting your bedroom walls unless you’re happy with the results. That means you need to make the extra effort to find the perfect color paint. If you’d like your bedroom to have a more expansive look, lighter colors like off-white or creamy beige is preferable. While you’ll want your walls to be relaxing (for sleeping purposes), that doesn’t mean they should be boring. A faux finish or a textured look can enliven an otherwise an uninteresting paint job.
