If you want to entertain your visitors or simply have an extra room that isn’t being used, here are some simple strategies for converting it into a spare room. It’s a lot simpler than you think!
Step One: Decide on the aesthetic of the converted space. Keep your guest room in the same style as the rest of the house if you want it to feel like a part of your home. Choose something completely different, such as pastels, if you want it to stand out and be more accommodating to different tastes.
Step Two: Remove any clutter from the available space. This can include anything from old photographs to filthy toys, heaps of clothing, and even books and magazines. To make room for new decor, remove anything that isn’t necessary.
Step Three: The following step is the most crucial. You should think about what kind of furniture you want in the room. If you have other rooms in your home that are more welcoming to guests, keep this one as simple as possible, adding a couch and some throw pillows if necessary.
Step Four: Consider renting furniture from a nearby storage facility if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on it. This is especially useful if you only need something for a short period of time (changed often anyway). It can also make the extra space more accommodating for unexpected visitors.
Step Five: Once the furniture is in place, add accessories to complete the look. A pair of large mirrors could make or break the situation. Or, take a closer look at your decorations and make sure they are in line with your room’s goals. Glass candle holders and a small collection of art can suffice.
