Home Maintenance / January 30, 2017
If you’re the proud new owner of a home here in Lexington you should take the time to consider some of the following tasks to complete prior to moving in. This short to-do list will help make your moving in process a little easier but will also help keep you and your home safe. Check out what our crew here at Handyman Connection of Lexington recommends, below.
Change All Exterior Locks
Even if you’re moving into a brand new home, there is a chance that multiple copies of your home’s keys are floating around. It’s best to be on the safe side and change all the locks on the exterior entrances of your home. This will help keep your home safe and allow you to have peace of mind. It’s an inexpensive task in the long run with priceless benefits.
Before moving in, make sure to do an extensive inspection of the entire home to make sure you are aware of any damage, and try to get them repaired before moving in. Sometimes by making one repair, you are faced with another, so it’s much easier in the long run if you can take care of any repairs prior to moving in.
Take advantage of the empty home. Use the time to do an extensive deep clean of all areas of your home. You can do this yourself, or you can hire a professional cleaning service to help you. Also use the time to make sure all existing appliances are functioning properly and replace any as necessary.
Paint or Wallpaper
Similar to cleaning, use this opportunity to add a fresh coat of paint or new wallpaper to some areas of your home. It’s always best to do these things before moving any furniture inside if you have the chance. It leaves less room for chipped paint and more room for making your house a home here in Lexington!
