How to Deal With Noisy and Squeaky Parts of Your House

door repair and replacement in Boise, ID

Hearing the occasional squeak or noise in your house is completely normal. However, constant squeaking and other noises can indicate that there’s something wrong with that part of your house. In today’s post, Handyman Connection® of Boise will explain how to identify and fix these problems.

Squeaky Chairs

Squeaky chairs are usually caused by worn or loose-fitting joints. Fortunately, you can simply grab some lubricant and apply it directly to where the seat meets the chair base. If the chair is made of wood, then you should get a wood-swelling solution instead. If you need a more permanent solution, then you can ask a craftsman to drill small holes into the joint and then inject wood glue.

Squeaky Faucets

Squeaky faucets are usually caused by metal handles that rub against metal faucet stems. Fortunately, this is a quick fix for a plumbing expert. They’ll just have to close the sink drain, pop off the faucet cap and then remove the screw in the center of the knob. Then, they will pull the faucet knob up, wipe the inside of the faucet handle and then place an even coat of plumber’s grease on the exposed faucet stem and the inside of the faucet handle. Finally, they’ll put everything back together.

Squeaky Drawers

If your drawers are made of wood, then the squeaking is probably caused by wood grinding on wood. You simply have to remove the drawer and rub beeswax or an old candle on the drawer and the inside of the chest. If your drawers have nylon wheels and metal glides, then you just need to apply liquid lubricant.
