Researchers from Harvard University, the University of British Columbia and two institutes in the Netherlands collaborated to conduct 7 surveys of more than 6,000 respondents in four countries. The rationale of the study takes a closer look at the people’s decisions concerning how they place more value in time or money.

With that in mind, the survey asked people if they regularly pay someone else to do unpleasant daily tasks. They were also asked to rate their satisfaction in life. In all of the surveys, the respondents who regularly spent money to save time had higher life satisfaction regardless of household income, weekly working hours, marital status and number of children in their household.

The study also revealed that working adults in the United States reported being satisfied in life when they often pay someone to perform household tasks. These include cooking, shopping for groceries and general maintenance.
