Our crew at Handyman Connection of Boise has put together a few ideas for you. Check them out!
Revamp Your Pots and Planters
A fun way to add some fresh lighting to your backyard is by revamping your planter pots by adding glow-in-the-dark paint to them. Get creative with fun designs and patterns that accent any design themes that are currently in your backyard or get festive during the holidays and incorporate those types of designs.
Create Your Own Chandelier
This project is easy, looks great, and won’t break the bank. All you need is a hula-hoop, holiday lights, some string, and some glue. Simply wrap the lights around the hoop to create an airy chandelier that you can hang up. Get creative with hanging the lights in a certain format, spray-painting the hula-hoop a certain color, or adding some fabric around the sides as well.
Hanging Mason Jars
Everyone loves a good DIY mason jar project. Hang mason jars with battery operated candles on the railings of your deck or around your garden on stakes. You can get festive by painting the jars or tinting them with colored translucent glass paint.
Beer Bottle Lights
After cracking open a couple of beers, recycle them by turning them into a new light feature. Feed colorful twinkling lights throughout the bottles and create featured lights very easily. You can also purchase battery-operated lights with switches online that feed through old beer or wine bottles.
Tiki Torch
One of the classic backyard light features is incorporating a couple of tiki torches. You can even revamp the classic look by repainting them or adding additional stringed lights around them. Create a winter themed look by painting them white or light blue. Also try incorporating some natural greenery or flowers around the bottom of them to create a complete look.
Tin Can Lanterns
This idea continues to be one of the big hits in DIY light feature world. If you haven’t tried it yet, our crew in Boise definitely encourages you to give it a go! Recycle some old soup or other types of tin cans and clean them out really well. Give it more than one clean so that there is no lingering smell in the cans. Spray paint them with accent colors and then poke a few holes in them. Get creative with the patterns of your holes. You can create a holiday theme or a general design pattern so that you can keep these up all year round. Place battery-operated lights throughout them and place them or hang them around the backyard.
