5 Homemade Carpet Stain Removers

Carpet stains are eyesores that can compromise your home’s aesthetic. To get rid of tough stains, Handyman Connection® of Alpharetta shares five homemade stain removers you can try before calling a cleaning service provider.

1. Vinegar

Use vinegar as the primary ingredient of your carpet cleaning solution. It can remove almost any kind of stain, from light to dark blotches. You can also use vinegar to eliminate spilled paint; combine one and a half teaspoons of vinegar and laundry detergent with two cups of water. Rinse with cold water. Note, however, that this concoction will only work if the paint hasn’t fully dried.

2. Shaving Cream

Shaving cream can help remove splatters of juice on your carpet. Pat the stain with a wet sponge and squirt some shaving cream on it. You can then wipe clean with a damp sponge. Apart from juice stains, shaving cream can also get rid of grease and oil marks on your carpet.

3. Beer

Who would have thought that beer can remove coffee and tea carpet stains? You only need to rub the beer on the material, and the stain should disappear. To remove all traces, repeat the process several times.

4. Salt

To boost the effect of your carpet cleaners, sprinkle a bit of salt. For instance, salt and rubbing alcohol can remove greasy food stains on the carpet. Remember that you should rub in the direction of the rug’s natural nap.

5.Baking Soda

Baking soda is one of the best do-it-yourself carpet cleaners. It cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes the messy area. Apart from carpet stains, baking soda can also clean other glass materials.
