5 Kitchen Problems You Should Fix Immediately

If so, consider buying an oven thermometer to check the temperature settings as it’s possible your oven may only need to be recalibrated. If recalibration doesn’t do the trick, consider replacing the oven instead.

1. Garbage Disposal Doesn’t Work – If your garbage disposal doesn’t grind the food scraps you drop there, try resetting it and if that doesn’t work, try grinding an ice cube in it. However, if you suspect it’s blocked with food, unplug it first before attempting to remove the blockage. Alternatively, you can always call a professional to fix it for you.

1. Leaky Faucet or Sink – Faucets and water lines aren’t supposed to leak. Luckily enough, a leaky kitchen faucet is fairly easy to fix; if it spurts or sprays water, clean the faucet screen and if you notice water or mold under the sink, check for leaks near the drain line and call a plumber to fix it.

1. Faulty Dishwasher – The dishwasher is in the kitchen to make cleaning dishes more convenient. However, there are possible reasons as to why your dishwasher isn’t cleaning the dishes. If you find pieces of food on the dishes after every cycle, clean the spray arm, filter and float. If you notice watermarks on the dishes, on the other hand, it can be due to soapy residue so consider changing your detergent.

1. Freezer Issues – If your fridge isn’t staying cool, check if the doors are closing properly and if its seals are still snug. While you’re at it, note any unusual heat, drips or noises around the fridge to see if it’s faulty. If your fridge is starting to emit foul odors, meanwhile, it’s possible that your food has spoiled due to neglect or temperature control. With that in mind, consider cleaning the fridge and adjust the interior temperatures to the optimum settings of 0 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. If this doesn’t do the trick, consider replacing the fridge.
