8 Tips to Effectively Double Kitchen Storage

The kitchen is a vital part of any home since this is where you prepare and cooking your meals on a daily basis. Unfortunately for some homeowners, they find themselves running out of storage space faster than expected. Thankfully, it is possible to get around this dilemma and double your kitchen’s storage space.

In this post, Handyman Connection® of West Omaha lists eight tips that you can follow to double the storage space of your kitchen, starting with:

  1. Clear Your Countertops – As much as possible, avoid placing too many things on your countertops. Instead, only create a permanent spot for the small appliances that you use on a daily basis and keep the ones you only use on special occasions in storage.
  2. Get a Kitchen Island – A kitchen island is a good chance to add extra storage to your kitchen because you can easily incorporate open shelving on them, giving you a place to store your cookbooks and accessories. Alternatively, you can also add custom design features like pull out shelving or wine racks on your kitchen island.

  1. All-in-One Coffee Station – Do you like coffee? Then make your brewing experience easier by having an all-in-one coffee station in your kitchen. To do this, simply dedicate a pull out drawer next to your coffeemaker so you’ll have a nearby place to store your filters, coffee beans and travel mugs and make coffee making a one-step task.

  1. Invest in Deep Drawers – On the other hand, consider deep drawers as a sufficient storage space for your pots and pans instead of conventional cupboard doors. By utilizing deep drawers, you can easily store your items, quickly gain access to them at the same time, and have an easier time organizing your kitchen equipment.

  1. Use Clear Containers for Dry Goods – If you have dry goods, make sure to move them into airtight, stackable containers. That way, your packaged food products can be stored more compactly in your cupboards.

  1. Opt for High Cupboards – Adding high cupboards in your kitchen is an easy way to double your storage in one fell swoop. Cupboards that stop halfway through will only collect dust and grease and does nothing for your storage woes. By having high cupboards, you can use the highest shelves for equipment you don’t use often.

  1. Utilize Your Doors – Alternatively, you can also attach racks to the inside of your cabinet doors to increase their storage capacity. However, make sure to allow adequate clearance in your cabinets so your door will close completely.

  1. Maximize Your Walls – For cooking equipment, meanwhile, consider installing a wire wall grid to keep them nearby. Simply turn a bare section of your kitchen wall into a hook-and-hang center and you’ll have a place to hang your kitchen tools without sacrificing much storage space.
