2 Escape Plans: Second Counts

In Oct in 2017, the National Fire Prevention Week was focused on bringing to the forefront that every second counts. The importance of having 2 escape plans was also brought forward.

Steps on how to not become a fire statistic, teach these steps to the family

  • Your home should be clearly marked and easy for the fire department to find.
  • All members of the household should have 2 paths of escape. Make a map of the home clearly marking the exits.
  • Drills should be done twice a year making sure the children can get out without parental help.
  • Drills should be practiced both in the daytime and at night using both escape plans.
  • Once outside the home Do Not Go Back In.
  • Close all doors behind you as this may assist in slowing down the fire.
