4 Simple Ways to Stay Safe During Home Repairs

Always keep your work area clean, and keep your tools in a place visible to you or where you won’t accidentally step on them.

2. Pick a Sturdy Ladder

For roof repairs and any elevated projects, pick a sturdy ladder, and make sure it’s secure. We recommend asking a friend or family member to hold the ladder in place while you’re using it. We also suggest using metal ladders as they’re sturdier and less likely to wobble compared with wooden ones.

3. Keep Distractions at a Minimum

Fight the urge to use multiple pieces of equipment at the same time. Use only one tool at a time, and stay focused on the current task you’re working on. Always make sure to follow the proper order of the work you’re doing to minimize distractions.

4. Turn the Power Off

When you’re working on electrical repairs, always turn the power off before working on anything, even if the repairs are minor. Doing this not only makes repair work safer, but also avoids worse situations, such as electrical fires.
