Exterior Trim Replacement Services in Saskatoon, SK

Whether it’s vinyl or wood, the trim around the exterior of your house will become damaged over the years. Trim in bad shape doesn’t just look ugly, but it allows water to get underneath and cause more harm. While the elements will always be an obstacle, you can still make repairs and replace trim to keep your home looking great and avoid leaks or other issues. Contact Handyman Connection of Saskatoon for outdoor trim maintenance and replacement.

Should I Replace My Home’s Exterior Trim?

The best way to inspect for trim problems is by walking around your house. If you see cracks, holes, damaged, loose or deteriorating wood, you should contact Handyman Connection of Saskatoon. We’ll then figure out whether your trim can be fixed or needs replacement. If wood isn’t rotting, significantly distorted or seriously damaged, any of our trim contractors can make a few quick fixes to return trim to perfect form.

Trim Options

Wood

Wood is the most common material used in external trim. It’s available in either solid boards or finger-jointed sections. Finger-jointed wood trim is just shorter wood pieces that lock together. Wood trim is easy to install and accepts paint well.

Plastic

There are two main types of plastic trim, polyurethane and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Polyurethane is slightly more expensive, but slightly denser and prepared to paint. PVC needs to be sanded prior to painting.

Fiber-cement

Fiber-cement combines cement, sand and wood-fiber reinforcement. It’s resilient, fire resistant and immune to water and insects. Fiber-cement trim is typically moisture repellant, which means paint will last for a long time.

Laminated veneer lumber

Layers of wood veneer in a parallel grain and two veneer cross bands are covered by an average thickness overlay to engineer this substance.

Hardboard

Hardboard exterior trim is formed from hardwood chips that are warmed with steam and water and then pushed into board stock. During pressing, lignin found in wood will begin to run again and serve as paste to keep the board together. The adhesive makes the hardboard more immune to decomposition than wood.
