A full home remodel may sound fun and exciting but it is also very expensive.  We know that not everyone has the budget for a total gut remodel but fortunately, there are many easy ways to update your home.  Some easy updates are incredibly inexpensive and some a bit more expensive but all are significantly less than totally remodeling your home.  By completing just one or a few of these easy renovations, you can update your home and give it the modern and fresh feel that you want.  Additionally, when you complete these upgrades before selling your home, it will make your home more appealing to potential homeowners and likely help your home sell more quickly.

3 Easy Ways to Update Your Home

  1. New Countertops
    • Your cabinets may be in great shape but your countertops could be a little dated or out of style. You do not need to completely replace your cabinets to give your home the updated feel that you want.  Give your home an updated and fresh feel by simply replacing your home’s countertops with something in a more modern color palette and finish.  Marble is all the rage and looks incredible but can be more difficult to maintain as well as pricey.  Fortunately, there are many other materials with cool, modern finishes including quartz and granite.
  2. New Flooring
    • If your flooring is outdated or in bad shape it will impact the feel of your entire home. You can only have so many area rugs and they can only cover so much.  New flooring can have a very dramatic impact on the aesthetic appeal of your home and can help you truly transform your home’s style.  Hardwood floors are beautiful but there are many great flooring options today.  If you want the look of hardwood but something that is easier to maintain, consider porcelain or ceramic “wood-look” tile.  There are many sizes, styles and finishes that look incredibly like hardwood flooring.  In fact, your guests may have to get down on the floor and touch it to see if it is hardwood or not.
  3. New Hardware and/or Fixtures
    • Brass is in style right now but we are not talking about 1980s brass. If your home is filled with hardware and fixtures that harken back to the 1980s, it is time to switch it up.  By simply changing the hardware on your cabinets, changing out lighting fixtures, or changing out plumbing fixtures with something more modern and current, you can bring your home into the 21st  It may seem small but you will be amazed how big an impact it will make!
