Importance of Professional Drywall Repair

If you, like many others, have watched a few DIY shows, you might fancy yourself something of a DIY expert.

If you, like many others, have watched a few DIY shows, you might fancy yourself something of a DIY expert.  And, while there are a great many things a homeowner can take the time to learn and DIY, there are some things that are best left to the trained professionals.  When it comes to drywall repairs, whether small or large, it is always best to leave it in the hands of a trusted handyman or contractor.  This is because, whether flat or textured, if a drywall repair is done improperly it is going to be noticeable – very noticeable.  When you delay drywall repair, or do it incorrectly, your home’s walls may literally begin to fall apart.

When damage occurs, such as a hole, it is occasionally possible to simply do a drywall repair.  But, if the hole is too big, it will necessitate new drywall be installed for a proper finish.  Drywall repair and replacement needs to be done correctly to restore not only the appearance of the wall, but the integrity as well.  Fortunately, at Handyman Connection, our skilled and trained handymen and contractors not only have the experience but the expertise and knowledge necessary to properly repair and replace your drywall.  In the case of water damage, even if it is small and contained, it may be best to replace the entire drywall sheet to eliminate the chance of things like mold from developing.  Hole repair will depend on the size but it will require quality spackling compound, proper tools, and possibly joint compound for larger holes.  There are also self adhesive drywall patches for large holes to ensure the structure is sound.  Another instance that may require replacing the entire sheet is if there are multiple holes in the drywall.  In addition to making the proper repairs, an experienced handyman can repair texture to match the wall or match the rest of the house before re-painting.  Poor repairs will only be more apparent after you touch up paint so it is important to get it right the first time so that your home can look its best.  Further, we know that your time is valuable.  Think about how much time and money it would take for you to watch and read tutorials, try to decipher them, purchase all the necessary tools and supplies, and then try to make the repair yourself.  In the end, it will likely save you quite a bit of time and money to hire a professional who will not only get it done, but get it done correctly so that your walls will look their best for years to come.
