Maintenance / November 15, 2021
Fall is the ideal time to inspect and clean your gutters. As temperatures drop, leaves begin to fall from trees and accumulate in your gutter. This results in congestion, which is not only inconvenient but also potentially dangerous during severe rainstorms.
There are numerous things you can do throughout the year to maintain your gutters functioning correctly, including keeping them clean and pruning overgrown trees that could cause difficulties. We’ll examine each of these gutter repair procedures in further detail below.
Before doing any maintenance on your gutter, keep in mind that if it becomes clogged or unclean enough, water may begin accumulating on the ground around your foundation rather than draining away properly. This is more of an issue in the winter when no leaves fall and the gutters are not utilized regularly, but it can occur at any time of year, especially if your gutter is clogged with pine straw or other debris that is not generally there.
The most effective strategy to avoid this is to maintain your gutters on a regular basis. The simplest method to do this is to clean them out using a leaf blower or vacuum. If you do not have one of these, a rake will suffice. Simply avoid allowing leaves to become lodged in the bends of your gutter, where they cannot be easily removed.
