Mississauga Home Renovations: 3 Creative Ways To Store and Display Books and Magazines

Creative ways to store books and magazines

If you’re an avid bookworm, you need a lot of storage space for your books and magazines. A large bookshelf may seem like a simple solution, but it isn’t your only option. Bookshelves can take up a lot of floor space, and if you don’t have a lot of room in your house or apartment, you may need to look for alternative storage solutions. Here are three ways you can store and organize books and magazines without taking up floor space.

1. Magazine Racks

Wall-mounted magazine racks are one of the most creative ways to store magazines. Many people have multiple issues of various magazines, and if you don’t want to throw them away but don’t have a way to display them properly, a magazine rack could be the perfect solution. Magazine racks keep all of your issues organized together. In open designs, you can see the front cover of the issue so you can quickly find the one you are searching for. You can build wall-mounted magazine racks in any size, colour or style to match any aesthetic.

Because they are mounted to the wall, they do not take up any floor space. They function as decorative pieces in addition to storage because they decorate your walls and help you achieve the look you are striving to create in your home.

2. Floating Shelves

If you only want to display a few books, floating shelves may be your best option for storage. Floating shelves take up space on your walls rather than on the floor, so they also work as decorative pieces and give your home a more modern field. When floating shelves, you cannot see the brackets underneath.

However, you must remember that this option is not best for showcasing a heavy book display. Putting too much weight on the shelves could cause them to fall, so it is best to distribute book weight evenly. For additional style, you could even store your books in small stacks instead of rows. Just limit each stack to three books to avoid having too much weight on the shelf.

3. Mounted Cabinets

If you want to keep your books organized but don’t want to display them for visitors to see, a mounted cabinet is a great option. These closed shelves mount onto walls to increase floor space, but they keep all of your books contained behind closed doors. Additional benefits include easy customization because you can have cabinets made in any size and colour. You can also you different finishes to achieve various aesthetic looks.

If you want to get creative, you can remove the cabinet doors to showcase your books and still get the benefits of using a mounted cabinet. Install two or more shelves inside the cabinet to maximize space and give you even more room to store your ever-expanding book collection.
