Home Improvement / June 28, 2018
Most homeowners put off doing home improvement due to the perceived difficulty of some projects. Some are just dissuaded at the cost of hiring a team to do work for them. There are, however, some easy-to-do home improvement projects you can perform yourself.
In this post, our home improvement experts at Handyman Connection of Matthews shares three projects you can do on your own.
Replacing Cracked Tiles
Tiles that are old and cracked aren’t just unsightly; they pose a serious tripping hazard in cramped spaces like kitchens and bathrooms. When you see a couple of cracked tiles, all you need to do is break up the old pieces of the tile into smaller and more manageable pieces. After that, it’s just a matter of cleaning the empty tile space and fitting the new one in it. Just be careful with your choice of new tiles; they must fit the rest of the floor.
Addressing Leaking and Dripping Faucets
Leaky and dripping faucets are the bane of households. They appear harmless, but can increase your water usage if left unaddressed. Thankfully, you don’t need to call your local handyman to address this problem.
All you need to do is a quick tightening of the handle to fix your leaky faucet. If that doesn’t solve the drip, you’ll want to replace the faucet cartridge. These are readily available at your local store and taking apart and putting back the faucet is simple to do. Bring the old cartridge when you go to the store so that you can find help getting the replacement.
Holes in the Wall
Holes and dents in the wall are unsightly and can actually cause more issues. Leaks coming from the roof can find their way in here, and the fact that the wall already has holes means the surface’s overall durability can easily get compromised by humidity and sudden changes in temperature. These are very easy to fix, though. All you need is a drywall patch!
These are just some of the many home improvement projects you can do on your own. For larger and more complicated projects, it’s best to leave it to an experienced professional like us.
