There are many things you should know when it comes to picking the right interior paint color for your house. We’ll cover the basics below, but you should do more research on your own before making any decisions.
Paint is usually sold in either flat or gloss finishes. Flat finish paint will generally be cheaper than gloss because it doesn’t have the same high shine finish but depending on what type of lighting you want in your room; one might look better than another. Glossy paints tend to reflect light and make the space look brighter while matte paints absorb light and warmer (and sometimes darker) tones can make a room look smaller by contrast. Choose the type of paint based on the room you want to change. Choose lighter when you want to make a small space look larger and darker when you want to add coziness and warmth.
The next thing you should do when picking interior paint colors is choosing colors that complement each other. If you’re going for a modern theme, try complementing the dominant color with accents in grays, blacks, and whites. For classic themes, use complementary colors like red and green, blue, and orange, or yellow and purple. If you’re going for a neutral color scheme, try grays, browns, and whites.
