How to Keep Your Neighbors Happy During Renovations

When tackling a home renovation project in a residential area, be aware that this may not sit well for some of your neighbors. Noise and other forms of distraction may disrupt their daily activities. Failure to consider them prior to starting the whole endeavor may even spark a conflict.

In today’s blog post, Handyman Connection® of Lincoln, your local home improvement specialists, share ways on how you can keep your neighbors happy during renovations.

Let Them Know Ahead of Time

Start off by informing them about your intention to pursue a home renovation. Share with them the details of the whole project, from the start date and the potential end date. In doing this, you can help them make their own preparations. Take note of any concerns they might raise, finding a workable solution so that both of you are on the same page.

Stick to the Schedule, But Don’t Start Too Early

Let the workers know that they should start their workday based on the agreed upon schedule. As much as possible, don’t have them start earlier than the required time. Consider your neighbors who might be sleeping soundly—you wouldn’t want them to wake up far too early.

Refrain from Creating Obstructions

One of the things you need to do to avoid neighbors’ inconvenience during renovations is to refrain from creating hindrances. Don’t block neighbors’ driveways and parking; be sure to inform the workers not to park near your neighbors’ homes. Secure parking spaces when there’s one available prior to starting the project.

Clean Up Before Every Workday

It is imperative that home improvement specialists clean up after themselves after every work day. In addition to disposing of building material waste, they must be able to keep tools and equipment properly stored.
