There are many practical uses of duct tape. Not only does it stick to almost anything, but it’s also flexible and tear-resistant. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a wrong way to use duct tape as there are some instances where it won’t adhere properly.
To explain how you can use duct tape the right way, we some its practical uses and how it can be done properly:
If you have car troubles, but won’t be able to have them repaired immediately, duct tape can be used as a temporary fix! This can be taped over a small crack in your bumper or windshield to prevent it from worsening. A dangling rear-view or side-view mirror can be remedied by duct tape, though just for a short while. Even a loose hood or trunk can be taped shut by duct tape until you get to the nearest repair shop. Just make sure that the surface you’re taping on isn’t dirty, wet, hot or cold, or else it won’t stick properly!
Duct tape is also useful in patching up holes in your vacuum or garden hoses. Other household essentials can also have their useful lifespan extend a bit with duct tape. For instance, you can tape the cracks in your plastic storage bins or trash cans as well as some of your stuff from the shed, such as buckets, yard lights or planters! But again, their surfaces have to be clean and dry for the duct tape to stick properly. It should also be used in even surfaces; it won’t stick properly to stucco or rough concrete.
