Tips to Help You Choose the Best Tiles for Your Bathroom

When remodeling your bathroom, one of the most important things you should consider are the tiles. They make up a huge part of the room, making it essential to choose the right one for your space. The style, pattern and color of the tiles can affect the overall appearance of your new bath.

Here are tips to keep in mind when choosing bathroom tiles.

The Rule of Threes

Always remember the rule of threes when selecting bathroom tiles. Keep in mind that the more styles you add, the more visual clutter you create. Pick one main tile for the walls, one for the flooring and another as an accent.

Choose the Right Materials

A preferred bathroom tiling option, glass is available in a wide range of colors and styles. Many homeowners prefer this material because it reflects light, which can help make a small space appear larger.

Ceramic is another popular material as it resists moisture, stain, bacteria and odors. It’s also durable, easy to install and low maintenance. Porcelain is stronger than ceramic, and it doesn’t absorb as much moisture. Then, there are natural stones, which are great for adding some texture and accent to your bathroom. However, natural stones are porous, meaning it holds on to dirt and grime more.

Select the Ideal Size

Large-scale tiles are great for walls and shower benches since larger slabs are more comfortable to sit on than tiny tiles. For the flooring, go for smaller-scale tiles since they can help reduce the risk of slips and falls.

Don’t Forget About Grout

Grout fills the spaces between the tiles and binds them together. It is essential in preventing your tiles from cracking and chipping. However, grout also plays a major role in the visual appeal of your space. The color of grout should complement the color and pattern of your tiles. Light-colored grout also requires more maintenance than a darker-colored one.
