Home Maintenance / February 12, 2019
Many homeowners don’t like cleaning the bathroom and for good reason. Getting rid of buildup on the surfaces of showers, bathtubs, toilets and other fixtures takes both time and cleaning solutions. Fortunately, Handyman Connection® of Carmel offers these tips and tricks for more efficient bathroom cleaning.
1. Remove Items Before Cleaning
Before you start cleaning your bathroom, remove all products from their usual spots, such as shampoo bottles on your shower or bathtub, and the towels from the rack. Prepare a trash can to dispose of useless stuff.
2. Get Rid of Dust
Use your long-handled duster for this. Remove cobwebs from the corners, vents or light fixtures. Get on a stepladder if required. Then, sweep or vacuum up the debris that has collected on the floor.
3. Apply Cleaner on All Surfaces
Regular cleaning requires an all-purpose bathroom solution. However, if you have stubborn stains on your shower or bathtub, consider an acid-based one. Use the former to clean the other parts of your bathroom, including your shelves, towel racks and baseboards. Do the same for the vanity area and the toilet.
4. Let It Settle
Soaking the cleaner on the surface for a while allows you to scrub away loose dirt and buildup. Clean all the surfaces before rinsing them.
5. Don’t Forget the Floor
A mixture of warm water and a recommended amount of all-purpose cleaner is enough to clean the bathroom floor. Again, let it settle before wiping it dry with a mop.
Once all is done, return all the removed items back to their original places. Bring out fresh rugs and towels. Empty the trash cans right after. Also, you may want to keep the whole area tidy in between major cleanings by using a hand-held vacuum and installing a hair-catcher in your shower drain.
For any of your general home maintenance needs, you can count on the experienced craftsmen of Handyman Connection of Carmel to deliver quality workmanship and superior customer service.
