4 Home Upgrades That Increase Your Home’s Overall Value

If you’re planning to do some upgrades on your home, then you should prioritize home additions and changes that can increase your property’s value significantly. While it’s true that any home addition can improve property value, there are additions that actually add more value than others. Handyman Connection of Alpharetta lists four of them.

1. Switch To New Roofing

Roof replacements are arguably the most expensive home addition you’ll ever do, but it’s also one upgrade that can boost your home’s property value considerably. The roof, after all, is the first thing people will see when they look at your home. Consider switching to higher-quality shingle materials; if you’re still using asphalt, try metal for your next roof upgrade. While it does cost slightly more than asphalt, it is stronger, more elementally resilient, and has an “average” life span of 50 years.

2. Install Siding

If you’re still using exterior wall paint, we recommend you invest in siding for your exterior wall cover. Vinyl siding is ideal since unlike wood shake siding, it has higher water and moisture resistance and doesn’t get worn down easily. Siding can also drastically transform your home’s frontage, and as a result, add more value to your square footage.

3. Replace Old Windows

Your windows are another visual and static set piece of your frontage, so it’s no secret that a worn-down window will bring down your home’s value considerably. We suggest replacing your old windows with ENERGY STAR® windows as they are more energy-efficient, which means better ventilation and more stable comfort levels in your home.

4. Install a Deck

Decks are actually optional parts of your home, but they do add a lot of value since they are essentially extensions of your interior living spaces. When you work with us for your deck installation project, we’ll make sure your new exterior floor space blends perfectly with your home’s architecture.
